The Redmi Note 9 Pro arrives exactly five months after the Redmi Note 8 Pro and despite the Quick Model update, Xiaomi impresses the Indian consumers quite effectively. The Note 9 Pro debuts at a lower price this year and still manages to show some notable upgrades over the outgoing model. The display is large and the battery is the same - Indian consumers care a lot about two things.

So, for any phone buyer right now, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is quite appealing and when you look at the starting price of Rs 12,999, it seems that Xiaomi is offering the deal. You can find the Note 9 Pro in two storage variants and three color variants. The base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage comes at a price of Rs 12,999 while the second variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will set you back for Rs 15,999.

We have a full review of Redmi Note 9 Pro, which currently resides on India Today Tech, but if you want to know if this is the right phone for you, then keep reading.

Redmi Note 9 Pro: 5 things to know before buying this note

-Redmi Note 9 Pro has evolved in all dimensions. It is taller, thicker and heavier but slightly thinner than before. The increased height comes due to the larger display of 6.67 inches while the thickness and weight of 209 grams can be largely attributed to the 5000mAh battery. That said, Xiaomi is still using the front and rear Gorilla Glass 5 panels. The Note 9 Pro is also the most beautiful phone of the Redmi Note series till date, especially in the Aurora Blue variant.

Screen (display)
Every Redmi Note device focuses heavily on performance and the Note 9 Pro is no exception. The size has grown to 6.67 inches and it still uses an IPS PCD panel, but now with punch-hole cutouts for the selfie camera. The display is a good one but better displays are available on phones like Realme 6, Mi A3 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. That said, the large size makes for a huge viewing experience.

Battery capacity-Battery life is an important criterion for a Redmi Note device and Xiaomi has increased the unit to 5020mAh this time. It is a large battery by all means and in our usage, it lasted for about two days. There is support for 18W fast charging but on a larger battery, it takes about 1.5 hours for a full top-up.

Processor-Xiaomi has given a big jump in performance to the Note 9 Pro with Snapdragon 720G chipset. You can play games like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile on high graphics without seeing the major stutters or lags.

Camara quality-The cameras of this phone look like a downgrade on paper but they are substantially better than the Redmi Note 8. The 48-megapixel main camera relies on the Samsung GM2 sensor and in most light conditions, it works great. Sadly, some work still needs to be done for low light performance. The ultra-wide camera has also been improved and the new 5-megapixel macro camera produces more usable photos than before. Xiaomi's portrait mode is class-leading and the selfie camera is good in itself.
